How to Maintain Your Workout Routine Even While on Holiday

Sometimes, going on vacation can wreak havoc on our workout routine. Our mind goes into holiday mode and we eat every delicious food in sight without even thinking of burning off those extra calories. When we go home, we end up facing the bleak reality of having gained three pounds in just one week. This kind of nightmare can be prevented successfully though. There are several ways to keep yourself fit even when you are on vacation.

If you are staying on a beach resort for example, you can always take a quick jog along the beach every morning. Or better yet, swim for an extra hour on those days when you feel you have indulged too much on your favourite foods. Just make sure you do not swim when you are still feeling full. Wait at least two hours after a meal before you practice those breast strokes.

If you are staying in a hotel, you can always use their gym - but that usually involves an extra fee. The best thing to do is to bring along a few workout DVDs to play on your laptop. Choose exercises that do not require props. A few good examples would be Hip Hop dance workouts and belly dancing. If you are not bringing a laptop, you can always take along elastic exercise bands. They take up very little space in your luggage and you can use them for a variety of toning exercises for the arms, shoulders, legs, and even your abs! With all these smart exercise ideas, there is simply no excuse to not work out while enjoying your vacation!
