How to Organise a Poker Night
Are you feeling a bit lonely in your villa? Then why not invite a few guests and neighbours for an evening of poker? Holding a poker night is a great way to meet, hang out, drink, and socialise while battling for a chance to win some money. Here are some guidelines on how you can put up a great poker night in your villa.
First, invite only people whom you actually like to spend time with. Trust your instincts about whom you are going to call. For example, if you know that this certain person shells out a lot of money but has an attitude problem, resist the urge to invite him. There is a good chance that his attitude will ruin the night.
Next, set up a schedule that is convenient for your guests. Because they are most likely to be busy the next morning, avoid having poker nights on Sundays through Thursdays. Fridays and Saturdays are good schedules though.
Prepare the area by setting up a felt-green round table that can accommodate all your invited guests. Acquire cup holders, chips, automatic shufflers, and chip trays to make the atmosphere more authentic. Dim the lights down and play some jazz music. Your objective here is to create a casino theme. Of course, do not forget to stock up on drinks and finger foods.
Finally, choose the games themselves. Texas Hold 'Em Up, 7-Card Stud, or Blind Poker are good ones. In addition, use a "buy whatever" system where there is no set buy-in amount. However, do set a raise limit so your guests will not become too competitive that they will shell too much money when the game starts to warm up.
